VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

Hey everybody, what's up? What's up? How's it going? So, I hope you're having a great day.

And you know, today's topic is something that comes up all the time. And I'm sure it's something that you guys have thought or heard. And it's like stress and weight gain, right? Stress causes weight gain. And it's like, okay, great. I get it, I believe you, but what do you actually do about it?

So for those of you who don't know me, hello, I'm Tanya Zucco. I am a board-certified physician assistant, functional medicine practitioner, and hormone expert. My passion is helping women 40 Plus look, feel and perform their best. There is no reason to settle after 40. These are the best years of your life. So let's get back to talking about stress and weight gain. All right, guys.

So you know, most of my clients, their cortisol is causing them to store fat like a hoarder literally. And what happens when we have this, you know, stress this, too much stress in our body, essentially, it tells our body, Oh, shit like, it's about to go down. Something's about to go down, doomsday famine, I don't know. But something, the tiger is coming to kill me. I don't know that something's about to happen. And we need to save energy for that rainy day, okay, so the body is in sort of fight or flight mode, it's not going to allow you to, you know, lose weight, it's going to store everything in preparation for something that's coming.

And of course, it doesn't happen in this balanced uniform fashion, you know, throughout our body evenly. So you don't really notice it. Now, of course, it's like, all around the belly, right? Where it's super obvious what's going on. So I know that you guys have heard this multiple times. And you're probably saying, okay, great, Tanya, I get it, I believe you.

But what do we actually do about it? Okay. And I know that so many of my clients have been told over and over by nutritionists, practitioners, everyone, okay, just to lose, you know, to lose weight, it's just stress, you've got it, you've got to be less stressed. You know, you need to sleep more. You need to meditate a little bit. You've got to be less stressed. Okay. And you're like, thanks. Thanks for nothing like. How do I actually do that? It's easier said than done. Right? How is that actually actionable advice?

It's like most people who don't sleep very well. They love to sleep better, okay. But they don't know how they've tried all the things. They've tried all the sprays, but they don't know how to sleep better. They don't know how to reduce their stress. It's much easier said than done. And honestly, just like anything, unless something is actionable, the information is useless, you can come up with the best plan of action. If you can actually implement it doesn't mean anything. Okay?

So with stress, it's true, stress causes weight gain. So what do we do about it? You know, you've got to work on it internally and externally, right. So externally, sure, you've got to learn some things like how do you, you know, learn to meditate and externally manage your stresses. Maybe, you know, actually change your schedule and do things like that if you can, but also internally, there's a lot of things that can be done, and of course, it's very personalized, depending on what's going on with you. Your certain physiology of certain situations, okay. But a lot of key things with the internal management of stress that do make a huge and big transformation with regards to you know, the weight gain it causes is managing your blood sugar is getting a hold of the insulin resistance via different diet and lifestyle methods. Managing food sensitivities because that raises inflammation, raises stress in the body, okay. Choosing the right supplements in the form of adaptogens ,which is actually, I'll make it the topic of tomorrow's video. There you go. So we can talk more about adaptogens because they're very well studied and they do help, and also choosing the right foods to address your particular inflammatory status, your other health issues right because you do have to take everything into consideration. You can't look at things in just a bubble and then also your nutritional status and lifestyle. Okay, so what I'm saying is all is not lost when someone says stress is the problem, go stress less, there are actual actionable things that you can do based on your very individual you know, makeup and and physiology that you can do to get your weight under control.

So hopefully, this is hope for any of you out there who have been who have heard this and who are struggling with this. And if you think this would be helpful for anyone do, please share it as always. Thank you guys for tuning in. I'm sorry, my furkids in the background are like having way more fun than you know. They probably should, should be this time at night. They should be winding down get ready for bed, but thanks for listening. I really do appreciate you, and I'll catch you guys on the flip side.
