How do food and hormones affect your weight loss goals?

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

Hey guys, Tanya here again helping you lose fat regain your energy so you can look, feel and perform your absolute best.

So, we know and you've heard me talk over and over that hormones are the number one reason that active women, you know, like the everyday athlete, like you, over 40, who's done all the things and have been told multiple times by their doctor that everything's normal. It's the reason you're not losing weight.

So then you might ask, okay, so what do we do about that, Tanya? Well, one of the key principles is our food. See, what we eat influences our hormones. Either we're turning on the fat-storing hormones, or returning off the fat-burning hormones. So food can influence both hormonal levels and hormone sensitivity, which is actually how the cell responds to the hormone message that comes from the food. Okay.

Now, let me give you some examples. So number one, refined carbs, saturated fats and not eating enough fiber, and the right fiber has been shown to increase cortisol. So cortisol put a halt on your weight loss efforts.

Number two, we've got leptin so that is a hormone that is released by fat cells that inhibits hunger, which is affected by the type of food that we eat, and eating the correct foods and making sure we incorporate enough healthy fats can improve leptin sensitivity, and therefore can help us lose weight.

And example number three is the types of food we eat can also cause systemic inflammation, either baseline or if you've got a particular sensitivity, which is why it's so important to test and not guess. The types of food we eat can also cause mitochondrial damage, which causes accelerated aging and impaired recovery, for example, and the food we eat can cause impaired insulin sensitivity, which is going to make it really hard to lose weight.

So hopefully, you can see that what we eat will directly impact your hormones for better or for worse, and you can target specific nutrition plan to help fix your unique imbalances. It's really important to do that.

So if you've tried it all and you eat pretty well and you're exercising and you still can't lose that stubborn fat. Or maybe you need to regain that energy, wonder where it's gone. You want to feel better and you're looking for a personalized approach. Then shoot me a DM and I would love to tell you about my fat loss energy and body optimization protocol.
