VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

Hey guys, what's up? It's Tanya Zucco here. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Tanya Zucco. I am a board certified physician, associate Functional Medicine Practitioner and hormone expert. And I help women 40 Plus who are tired of hearing, it's just aging to lose weight, balance of hormones so they can feel amazing.

So, today I wanted to talk a little bit about alcohol. Okay, I promise I'm not trying to be the bearer of bad news, and I am certainly not shaming anyone for consuming alcohol because look, I love wine. I love having wine, one glass two glasses a night. Okay, so certainly not shaming you, just want to empower you with the information so that you can hopefully make more informed decisions when you are choosing what to include in your life, and your lifestyle, and your diet as you embark on you know, your health and your weight loss goals. Okay.

So, let's start with that. So the liver is in charge of processing alcohol, okay, we all know this. But we also know that the liver plays a primary role in number one regulating glucose and also processing your hormones. So of course, then there's a correlation between drinking alcohol and weight gain, feeling crummy fatigue and insomnia just to name a few. Okay?

Alcohol also impacts the endocrine system and this is the group of glands that produces our hormones. Okay, so this affects not only our estrogen progesterone, also our cortisol levels or muscles or bones.

So some consequences of consistent alcohol consumption include menstrual cycle irregularities, increased oxidative stress, aka inflammation, and we all know what that can cause within the body. HPA Axis dysfunction, aka that's the part of the brain that tells all of our hormones what to do thyroid dysfunction, and we all know how important the thyroid is with regards to our metabolism can also cause circadian rhythm disruption, aka sleeping like, also blood sugar irregularities and we know how that can cause that darn insulin resistance and make it really hard to lose weight and make it feel impossible no matter what you do.

So hopefully this gives you some insight and food for thought as you consider where alcohol fits into your life. Okay. And this is certainly you know, a personal decision based on your part, your goals and that kind of thing, but just wanted to empower you so that you can think about these things, myself included.

Now, if you do decide that it fits in or where it might fit in, here's some tips. Okay, so number one, drink electrolytes beforehand. Number two, drink plenty of water before and during. Sugary drinks, just don't do it. Okay, double quadruple Whammy, don't do it. And then the third thing is take glutathione or other supplements that help the liver to detox consistently.

Okay, so hopefully this was helpful and informative. If you think that this could help someone please do share it. Thank you guys so much for for hanging in here with me. Hey, Shar, uh huh. It's been a long time. Thanks. I will catch you guys next time. Bye.
